There are many different types of materials that are used for kitchen faucets today to achieve different looks. What many people don't know, however, is that nearly every faucet on the market starts out as brass. That is because brass is a material that is least affected by water and lasts for many years without degradation or even staining. In a factory, the brass faucet is either covered by another material, such as stainless steel or nickel to create a different look or another layer of brass is used to coat the faucet again, creating a beautiful brass kitchen faucet.
Brass faucets have been used in kitchens around the world for many years. It may be unimaginable to some, but faucets were invented in 1700BC. However, in those days they were made from gold! It was several hundred more years before brass was used for faucets, but once the quality of brass was discovered for this purpose, it become the most commonly used material. At this time brass facets became the standard for the home. It was very common to see brass used in the kitchen as a faucet.
As technology advanced and companies, like Delta, learned how to cover the brass and create products like the brushed nickel kitchen faucet or the bronze kitchen faucet brass fixtures became less common. That, however, does not mean that the brass design was on its way out. On the contrary, it simply meant that people bought faucets that fit their design and sometimes brass was not the right solution for the home. Regardless, brass kitchen faucets are still one of the top selling faucets everywhere.
One of the wonderful things about modern technology is that it can be used to create wonderful accents for the kitchen. The brass kitchen faucet is no exception. You can purchase a one that fits a contemporary style of sink or that would blend in with an old world country kitchen. Brass faucets can be created with an aged look or be bright and shiny. Whatever your kitchen style, they can be used to achieve that look. Additionally, with the different shapes that brass faucets are created in to, you can achieve a multitude of looks with one simple material.
